Homelessness
With over thousands of people homeless in Hawai‘i, 45% of whom live on neighbor islands, Hawai‘i has an urgent need for affordable housing.
As a member of the Joint Legislative Affordable Housing Task Force, I have worked on measures to make affordable housing more readily available. I previously introduced SB2904 to increase the Rental Housing Trust Fund, and sponsored SB2958, which appropriates funds for transitional housing and to repair vacant public housing.
My goal is to seek out initiatives that will help low income working people earn more money, keep the money they do earn, and, ultimately, to create a positive financial future through asset building.
