As the former Vice-Chair of the Senate Education Committee, and now as the Senate Majority Leader, I am committed to supporting and improving public education in Hawai‘i. I have introduced and co-sponsored legislation to support Universal Pre-School, the reduction of class size in grades K thru 3, and increasing teacher pay, including bonuses for teachers who work in rural areas. I have also consistently supported increased funding for repair and maintenance of schools statewide.

I believe that a strong and affordable higher education system is key to a vibrant and diversified economy, and pledge continuing support for the University of Hawai‘i system.
